The 38th IYPT is planned to be held in Lund, Sweden, from late June to early July 2025.
Dear IYPT Community,
Welcome to the first edition of the IYPT Newsletter! We are excited to launch this new initiative to keep you regularly updated on all things related to the International Young Physicists’ Tournament. We aim to improve our communication with you and provide information to the IYPT family.
Reflecting on IYPT 2024 in Budapest
We are excited to report on the success of this year’s tournament, which took place from the 10th to the 17th of July in Budapest, Hungary, where teams from 38 countries from all around the world met to compete. We want to say a big thank you to all participants, jurors, organizers and volunteers who made this year’s tournament possible and truly memorable.
Looking forward to IYPT 2025
The problems for IYPT 2025 have been published (you can view the full list of Problems on our website) and national organizations are starting their activities. As the new season begins, the international organization is also getting ready for next year’s tournament in Lund, Sweden which will take place from late June to early July 2025
In November, the IYPT Executive Committee meeting will take place in Sweden to discuss key plans for the 2025 tournament. Shortly after that, the pre-registration for next year’s tournament will open. We are looking forward to welcoming you!
Update from the Jury Committee
Last weekend, the IYPT Jury Committee met to reflect on the tournament of 2024 and to look into the feedback to jurors. We are pleased to share that the participants were happy with the work of the vast majority of jurors. We will distribute the individual feedback report to jurors within the next weeks.
We are also updating our jury selection policies. There will be new rules introduced for former participants who wish to become jurors to make the selection easier for them. We will share more details in the upcoming months.
Important Notice
It has come to our attention that individuals and online platforms are misusing the IYPT name and carrying out unauthorized activities in its name. For example, there has been a case of a YouTube channel trying to make a profit off participants.
Please be aware that such activities are not affiliated with our organization, and we highly recommend not engaging and paying these individuals as their actions have no affiliation with IYPT. IYPT does not provide paid or free tutorials or services regarding tournament Problems. The problems for each tournament are always available for free.
We have also come to notice phishing email attempts, which are pretending to be sent by current or former members of the IYPT Executive Committee. These emails often request payments or suggest performing activities within the IYPT organization. Please always ensure that you are communicating with a real and current member of the Executive Committee, whose official email addresses are listed on our website. If you receive any suspicious emails, we advise that you verify the sender before responding and kindly ask you to let us know if you receive such an email.
In Support of John Balcombe
We would like to take a moment to acknowledge our dedicated colleague, John Balcombe, a former member of the Executive Committee and the UK representative on the International Organizing Committee, who has been a valued member of the IYPT community for many years.
Unfortunately, John is currently facing serious health issues. Our thoughts are with him during this difficult time, and we hope for his swift and full recovery.

Thank you for being part of IYPT, and we wish you the best of luck as we head into the new 2025 season!
